Rob has more than 20 years experience in the development and implementation of effective business plans, engineering staff management, program launches and engineering deliverables. In his previous role as Global Director of the renewable energy business division of Hatch Associates, he was responsible for building and leading the renewable power business unit, which included a global mandate for the solar and wind energy business. As the Managing Director of Phoventus, Rob builds on that experience, devoting his time to assisting clients achieve exceptional outcomes.

Rob is the recipient of multiple awards and nominations for recognized innovation and engineering design. In addition, he is the author of several engineering patents for products used widely today. Rob has enjoyed extensive access to executive leadership training and has earned certificates in corporate financial management from Schulich. Rob is a graduate of mechanical engineering technology from George Brown.

Rob is a published author of a variety of thought leadership articles related to the successful implementation of renewable power systems in remote communities and the mining sector. In addition, Rob is a frequent speaker on issues related to renewable power finance including an invited lecturer on engineering and the law at the University Windsor School of Law (2014 and 2016).

Kathryn Klement, P.Eng.

Director, PV Power Systems

Kathryn has more than 7 years experience in the renewable energy and sustainable technologies market, working on projects in Canada, the US, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Asia for a wide variety of clients. With a project management and electrical engineering background, her expertise spans the wind and solar PV sectors, providing developers with feasibility studies, resource assessment, design specifications, electrical studies, contracting and procurement support, design reviews and site inspections. She acts as independent engineer for acquisitions and financing on behalf of owners, lenders, and investors. She also advises large corporate and industrial electricity users on the use of renewable energy to reduce their carbon footprints and electricity costs, sometimes considering integration with energy storage and generators for remote microgrid systems such as mines.

Prior to joining Phoventus, Kathryn was Director Solar, North America at global engineering firm Hatch. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has published papers in IEEE conference proceedings and the IEEE Transactions on Industry Application journal, for which she acts as a peer reviewer. Kathryn obtained her Master’s Degree in Energy Systems from the University of Toronto and has taken courses in project management and engineering & construction risk. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
