  Engineering Technologist – Electrical Power Distribution NOC / TEER Electrical Engineering Technologists and Technicians – TEER 2 Job Location Burlington, Ontario (with possible project-related travel within Canada and Globally) Employment Type Full-time, Permanent Wage 74,880. – 76,000. / year Work Schedule 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Occasional site visits may require extended hours Job Summary The Engineering Technologist – Electrical Power Distribution provides technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of electrical power distribution systems. The role supports professional engineers and project teams by preparing drawings, calculations, technical documentation, and assisting with field coordination. This position requires knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, utility standards, and safe engineering practices. Job Duties & Responsibilities The Engineering Technologist – Electrical Power Distribution will: The Engineering Technologist – Electrical Power Distribution will: Prepare, revise, and maintain electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, layouts, schematics, cable schedules, and equipment details Technologist may work under a P.Eng Participate in and lead design tasks and analysis of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, panels, protection devices, grounding systems, and cabling Support the commissioning, testing, and inspection of electrical systems and installations Assist with performance testing, diagnostics, and analysis of electrical components and systems Perform and document technical calculations such as load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, and equipment sizing under direction of a Professional Engineer Review applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements, including CEC, OESC, CSA standards, and local utility standards Support coordination with utility companies, contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering staff Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation Assist with material take-offs, equipment lists, and construction support Participate in site visits, inspections, and field verification activities Maintain project records and ensure documentation complies with company and regulatory requirements Follow company safety policies and applicable occupational health and safety regulations This position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion Minimum Requirements Education College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely related field or Canadian equivalent Experience Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience in electrical power distribution, utilities, industrial electrical systems, or engineering consulting Experience must demonstrate hands-on technical and documentation responsibilities related to electrical systems Technical Skills Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Ontario Electrical Safety standards Language Requirements English – written and verbal communication skills sufficient for technical documentation and workplace collaboration Assets (Not Mandatory) Experience with utility interconnections, substations, renewable energy projects, or battery energy storage systems Familiarity with electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower) Certification or eligibility for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) Experience working in a consulting engineering or utility environment Able to speak Portuguese
