Assessment of BESS Design/Configuration

BESS Due Diligence

Cambridge, Ontario | 2 MW / 1.8 MWh Energy Storage System

Our Clients Energy Storage Facility is a 2 MW / 1.8 MWh battery energy storage system

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) was designed to provide power to the facility in the event of a power cut to ensure that equipment can continue to run or be shut down correctly without causing loss or damage.

The project’s initial phase involves assessing the BESS design to determine if it can adequately supply power to the facility and prevent outages during brown-out events.

In addition, Phoventus provided regular site inspections during the construction and installation phase.

Phoventus Scope of Work

  1. Design Assessment
Review the current BESS design and configuration to determine whether the system will operate reliably as intended
  2. Risk Identification & Reporting
Prepare a report outlining any concerns or risks associated with the existing BESS design/configuration, along with recommended corrective actions, estimated timelines, and associated budget impacts.
  3. Commercial Review
Provide recommendations on fair commercial warranty terms for the system, in line with Clients intended use and prevailing market standards.
  4. Performance Validation
Confirm that the system is capable of delivering the projected annual cost savings
  5. Lifecycle & Maintenance Review
Provide an opinion on lifecycle management requirements, including BESS maintenance intervals and battery degradation over time (e.g., full-cycle depletion timelines, battery replacement schedules, and overall cost of ownership).
